Course Description

Digital Technologies is the study of how computers work; how they can be programmed; and how they can be used to manage, process and present information.
The DGT1 course focuses on:
• Website development (using HTML and CSS)
• Computer Hardware
• Programming (using Python)
• Computer Science Theory
The course is a challenging one and requires students to be self-motivated and to work independently. It will suit students who have an interest in understanding how computers work, and how website and programs are created.

Programming a game using Python
Computer Hardware and Software | Build a computer, install software, update drivers, BIOS and error checking.
Term 2
Computer Hardware and Software | Build a computer, install software, update drivers, BIOS and error checking.
Creation of an HTML and CSS website.
Term 3
Creation of an HTML and CSS website.
Human computer interaction.
Compression coding for different media types.
Term 4
Creation of an HTML and CSS website.
Prerequisites
Open Entry. However it is preferred that you took the 10DGT course, since this acts as an introduction to the DGT1 course
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
No fees. No equipment required (although having access to a computer at home will be useful for continuing classwork at home)
