Course Description

An introduction to Psychology. Psychology is the study of the brain and behaviour. Key issues faced by psychologists: depression; community mental health; the power of advertising. Some debates that will be explored include: nature vs nurture, and is advertising making us obese?

The various approaches used to explain behaviour.
How the brain works.

Term 2
Are humans and animals the product of nature or nurture?
Is advertising making humans unhealthy?
Debates in psychology internal.

Term 3
Famous experiments in Psychology: Milgram's experiment and the Robber's cave
Experiment design internal.
Sports Psychology.
Fields internal.

Term 4
Finish internal on Sports
Sleep and dreams study.

Pathway

Psychology leads too many careers. These include teaching, psychologist, social work, the police, criminologist, research, counselling, and marketing.
