Social Studies - Level 1

Course Description

Level 1 (Year 11) Social Studies is an introduction to the Social Sciences and will involve the learning of skills and knowledge from more than one Social Science discipline.

Level 1 Social Studies will provide students with the opportunity to achieve a combination of Achievement Standards and Unit Standards taken from Geography, History, Art History and Sociology.

Natural Disasters: Earth, Fire, Wind and Water (earthquakes, volcanoes, hurricanes and floods) – a Geography focus

Term 2
1981 Springbok Tour: An in-depth look at events that shaped a nation – a History and Sociology focus

Term 3
Researching students’ attitudes and behaviour (social research) – a Sociology focus
