If you did not take a pathway course at Level 2, or achieved fewer than 14 credits in that course, you will need HOD approval.


Spanish at Level 3 combines all that has been learnt so far with new vocabulary and some new structures. The aim is to develop a varied and flexible use of the language, where students choose from the language options available to communicate. As always there is a focus on communication and an appreciation of culture. Students have the opportunity to co-construct the topics, thereby making them more meaningful.

Term 1
Reintroducing ourselves to Spanish: revision of Level 2 vocabulary and grammar
Are you interested?: Co-construction of the topics for the year.
Let's talk about it!: Oral Presentation at term's end.

Term 2
Yeah, write!: Introduction to the writing portfolio
The business: Investigation of topics and related language aspects. Speaking, listening, reading, and writing are all important.
Exams: Mid-year

Term 3
Yeah, write!: Writing portfolio continues, and is due at the end of this term.
Speak up: Some students may be offered the opportunity to complete the Interact (spoken) portfolio.
Ongoing business: Topics covered may include: the use of technology; teenage issues; career plans; looking after the environment; travelling etc.
Exams: End-of-year
