Everybody loves a villain! This one semester course explores the anti-hero, the psychopath, the characters on the outskirts of society. We will visit a variety of complex settings and the consider the nature of good and evil through the lens of literature.
This is a one semester program targeting students who require additional Literacy credits, or who those who would like to further develop their English skills without committing to a full year program.
Semester A
The first term will begin with the study of four texts of the same genre. These texts will be compared to draw conclusions about the way in which current issues are viewed in society. In term two, students will deliver an oral presentation based on their chosen genre. This may be a panel discussion, a dramatic presentation or a more traditional speech. The class will produce two published pieces of writing based on the notion of villains or the concept of necessary evil.
This is an Internally assessed course, with 7 credits available. The standard 'Produce a selection of fluent and coherent writing which develops, sustains, and structures ideas', can be at either Level 2 or Level 3.
