Everybody loves a villain! This one semester course explores the anti-hero, the psychopath, the characters on the outskirts of society. We will visit dark settings and consider the complex nature of good and evil through the lens of literature.
This is a one semester program targeting students who require additional Literacy credits, or those who would like to further develop their English skills without committing to a full year program.
Semester B
The semester will begin with the analysis of a film from within our chosen genre. Students will then use this as the basis of a research project, learning skills important to tertiary study. The class will produce two published pieces of writing based on the notion of villains or the concept of necessary evil. There is the option for inclusion in the Visual Text external examination, utilising the learning gained from the Internal Standards within class.
This is an Internally assessed course, with 7 credits available. The standard 'Produce a selection of fluent and coherent writing which develops, sustains, and structures ideas', can be at either Level 2 or Level 3. There is the option to enrol in one External examination, however, this is not a requirement of the course.
