Course Description

English is about communicating effectively and enriching our lives.

Topics on this course include:


- Develop a plan to achieve a long-term personal financial goal(s)
- Describe and explain emerging patterns of work
- Plan a career pathway

This is a course aimed at those students or who intend to start a trade or apprenticeship, study at Polytechnic or who wish to improve their general literacy.


Course Overview

Term 1
Students will reinforce possible career opportunities through researching a particular career area. The three strands of Literacy will also be reinforced.

Term 2
Students will learn about the changes in patterns of work and some of the opportunities that are available to the modern-day worker. This will also be in addition to developing long-term financial goals and how to achieve them.

Prerequisites

Approval from the teacher in charge or head of department is required.
