Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr L. Sheehan.

DESIGN & VISUAL COMMUNICATION (GRAPHICS)

The duration of this course is one semester and focuses on understanding and applying drawing techniques used for design. We use the design process, CAD (Computer Aided Design) modelling, 3D printing, freehand drawing and technical drawing techniques to visually communicate design ideas and potential outcomes for design briefs.

Course Overview

Term 1
Project 1.
Outcomes: Personalised Logo - Formal drawing
Learning:
• How to use instruments: set squares & compass.
• Understand how to draw Geometric shapes with instruments.

Project 2.
Outcomes: Product design (Vehicle design) - Freehand drawing, Formal drawing & CAD modelling
Learning:
• 2D drawing and 3D isometric drawing freehand sketching.
• Concept drawing inspired by existing Images.
• Presenting final design in isometric & rendered.
• Formal drawing with instruments: set squares & compass.
