Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Ivan Davie.
A practical introduction to horticultural, agricultural and agribusiness in New Zealand.
This half-year course covers BOTH agriculture and horticulture.
Combination of outside and classroom activities.
Day trips to farms, orchards, packhouses and agribusinesses:

Course Overview
Term 1
Day trip to kiwifruit, blueberry, avocado and hemp manufacturing company
Watermelon harvest.
Planting out and growing fodder.
Harvesting a cereal cop and manufacturing of flour and porridge.
Germination and growing a crop.
Term 2
Day trip to beef, lamb and deer farm.
Preparing a glasshouse crop.
Grafting of scion and rootstock.
Plant physiology.

None.

The primary sector which includes Agriculture and Horticulture is worth over 45 billions dollars to New Zealand.
Industry is seeking talent and willing to pay.
The demand for roles are far greater than the numbers being trained.
People have got to eat and New Zealand adds value to food that the world is willing to pay for.
