Course Description

This course enables students to have greater ownership of their learning. They will have a large degree of choice in what they learn about and what Achievement Standards they want to be assessed with. Learning will be based around student led projects based on the following themes: Next Steps, Innovation, Impact.
Depending on numbers, it is likely that there will be combined Level 1, 2 & 3 students.
Don't choose this course if you are only interested in credit farming. Below is a SAMPLE of possible credits that could be obtained during the course.

Course Overview
Term 1
Next Steps. Students will be introduced to project based learning and look at different methods including Inquiry, Design Thinking, and Scientific Method. Students will then choose one of these methods to develop a project based on a topic they are interested in or they will investigate possible career pathways.
Term 2
Innovation. Students will complete an Innovation project using the Design Thinking framework.
Term 3
Impact. Students will be encourage to develop a project based on Social Entrepreneurship. Social entrepreneurship is an approach by start-up companies and entrepreneurs in which they develop and implement solutions to social, cultural, or environmental issues.
Term 4
Students will complete the project they started in Term 3.
