11 Agricultural and Horticultural Science

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Ivan Davie.

11AGH is a Primary ITO Trades Academy program:

  • Students complete Unit Standards.
  • Level 2 NZQA credits.
  • 21 credits in total.
  • Primary ITO program runs for two years which leads to the NZ Certificate in Primary Industry Skills (Level 2). 

11AGH is also part of the Year 11 Te Punga course:

  • 10% Vegetable production.
  • 40% Unit Standards completion.
  • 50% External examination.

11AGH has all day industry visits in Term 1, 2 and 3 to farms, orchards and Fieldays trip.


In 2026, the 11AGH program splits into two different pathways:

  • Pathway 1 - Skills - Primary Industry Trades Academy second year with work placement.
  • Pathway 2 - Academic - Achievement Standards (NCEA level 2).
