Product Technology - Level 2

Involves inventing/developing exciting new prototypes to address real needs and opportunity that exist within our community/society. Innovation is a key component going forward in most aspects of life and is the foundation of this course.
• Students work with stakeholders to develop a product idea.
• Students then model their design ideas using CAD software.
• Students will further develop skills such as MIG/TIG welding and laminating, in the development of a prototype
of their idea.
• This is tested “on-site” to evaluate its success.
• This course involves both academic and practical components
• Pathway to tertiary courses in Engineering, Design, Technology and Product Development.

Exploring possible solutions
Modelling selected product idea.
Developing product further.
Proving likely fitness for purpose.
Writing final design brief.
CAD drawing product in detail.
Starting product manufacture
