Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Ivan Davie.
There will be two pathways in 2025 (and you cannot do both):
Pathway 1 - Achievement Standards - 20 credits:
- Academic.
- Leading to Year 13 and Univeristy.
- Gisborne camp.
- Industry visits.
- Three Internals (12 credits).
- Two Externals (8 credits).
Pathway 2 - Unit Standards - Primary Trades Academy - 20 credits (requires Gateway as well):
- Skills based learning.
- Work experience as part of the Primary ITO Trades Academy program (Agriculture and Horticulture).
- Health and Safety within Ag/Hort.
- Gateway - compulsory second option to support work placement and employment skills
Choose AGH2 and then look at forming the different classes:
Pathway 1. Achievement Standards.
Pathway 2. Primary Trades Academy program (and you must select Gateway).
NOTE - you cannot do BOTH pathways in 2025. You will have to select Pathway 1 or Pathway 2

Prerequisites
PITO2 entry based on behavour and self-management.
AH2 entry based on:
- Behaviour & self-management in class and EOTC trips.
- Completion of all Unit Standards in 11AGH.
- 40% or more in the final 11AGH external examination.
- For students enrolled in 11SCI, 11BIO or 11CHP need to meet point 1 above and a Te Punga grade of D or better.
If not, will need TIC permission for entry into AGH2.

The horticultural and agricultural Industry provides generous scholarships and higher education grants to support your ongoing training.
This course leads to level 2 or 3 certified courses or Level 3 Agriculture and Horticulture Science.
Credit Information
You will be assessed in this course through all or a selection of the standards listed below.
This course is eligible for subject endorsement.
Course endorsement provides recognition for a student who has performed exceptionally well in an individual course.
Students will gain an endorsement for a course if, in a single school year, they achieve:
* 14 or more credits at Merit or Excellence, and
* at least 3 of these credits from externally assessed standards and 3 credits from internally assessed standards.
