Course Description

Level Three Design asks students to identify a real world problem or issue that can then form the basis of their design. Students learn how to create a brand that effectively communicates and develops designs for a purpose.

Course Overview
Term 1
Students design work for their chosen brand, issue or problem. Learning about typography, imagery and relevant design conventions will occur throughout this term. Students will identify a real world context for their work and how best to target their chosen audience. Site visits, photography and research will be key components of this term.
Term 2
Students continue to design work for their chosen brand. Greater ownership of outcomes and ideas should begin to occur with the student making choices for the direction of their work based on their audience.
Term 3
Students work towards their three panel folio submission during this term. Developing and extending their ideas is key to ensure that their work shows progression. Students will create a range of design based outcomes that are relevant to their brand and audience.
Term 4
Students will submit their three panel folio submission early in Term 4.

Assessment Information
Two internal assessments and one external submission make up the assessments on offer in this course. Students who submit the external folio board complete this during the year and present the work for marking in Term 4.Credit Information
You will be assessed in this course through all or a selection of the standards listed below.
This course is eligible for subject endorsement.
Course endorsement provides recognition for a student who has performed exceptionally well in an individual course.
Students will gain an endorsement for a course if, in a single school year, they achieve:
* 14 or more credits at Merit or Excellence, and
* at least 3 of these credits from externally assessed standards and 3 credits from internally assessed standards.
This course is approved for University Entrance.
