Athlete Development - Level 3

Course Description

The Athlete Development Programme is for students who may already be performing at a high level in their chosen sport(s). This is an academic course where the focus is on NCEA Physical Education Achievement Standards. If students want to continue with their lifting sessions then you need to take XSPO as a semester option. This programme has an emphasis on building a foundation for our first teams. 

You must be in either a school 1st or 2nd team and or compete at a high level in your chosen sport. 

This course is by selection only. 

ADP1, ADP2 and ADP3 have a theory and practical content for qualification purposes.

You may not study PHE1, PHE2 or PHE3 in conjunction with ADP1, ADP2 and ADP3.


Course Overview

Term 1
- Reviewing past sporting experiences and devising plans for the future (3.1)
- Devise strategies for a physical activity outcome (3.9)

Term 2
- Devise strategies for a physical activity outcome (3.9)
- Analyse a physical skill performed by self or others (golf) (3.2)

Term 3
- Analyse a physical skill performed by self or others (golf) (3.2)
- Evaluate the effectiveness of a performance improvement programme (3.3)

Term 4
- Demonstrate quality performance of a physical activity in an applied setting (3.4)
