Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr G. Hind.
•Practical wood programme based on individual and team projects, using a range of Carpentry and Joinery skills.
•A focus on practical Building and Joinery industry-related assessments – eg safety, machine use, construction skills.
•Development of practical hand tool skills and modern machine use.
Will be undertaken 1/2 on building site and 1/2 in a wood based workshop.
Course Overview
Term 1
• Practical programme based on individual and team projects, using a range of Carpentry and Joinery skills.
• A focus on practical Building and Joinery industry-related assessments – eg safety, machine use, construction skills.
• Development of practical hand tool skills and modern machine use.
Will be undertaken 1/2 on building site and 1/2 in a wood based workshop.
On building site, building a Wooden fence and completing relevant theory bookwork
Term 2
On the TBC building site, building a Wooden deck and a fence supported by relevant theory bookwork. Work is undertaken in groups encouraging communication skills and developing a strong work ethic required in the Trades.
Term 3
In workshops building a wooden step-up box and a wooden Cape Cod outdoor chair supported by relevant theory bookwork.
Term 4
Complete relevant theory bookwork
Prerequisites
If you did not take a pathway course at Level 1, or achieved fewer than 14 credits in that course, you will need HOD approval
