Food For Flatters - Level 3 (Semester 2)

Course Description

This semester course is a combination of three practical and two study periods. The aim is to prepare food to suit your taste, your student lifestyle, health & budget. The philosophy behind the practical aspect is equipping students to prepare healthy and nutritious meals and basic food safety practices in the kitchen. The study aspect will focus on exploring with guidance future planning ideas, growing up admin, and potential career pathways. This complimentary programme will assist with transition between school, leaving home and higher education.


Course Overview

Term 1
Introduction to basic practices in the kitchen
Three weekly themed cooking lessons which cover the most common practical skills you must know when you leave home.
Growing up admin classes. This includes a number of visiting speakers who will educate the students about how to prepare to leave home, what this might involve and some good advice about how to manage as a young adult.
Option to engage in some optional unit standards for credits.
Full barista training programme available
