Course Description

The study of music involves learning to perform, compose and understand music within a broad range of styles.

Students design their own course of 14 - 20 credits in consultation with their teacher

Senior students taking performance assessment standards are expected to be taking regular instrumental or vocal tuition – this can be at school OR privately.

-Weekly external exam preparation: aural and/ or score reading
-Solo Performance Preparation
-Composition: students use recording and notation software to compose three original pieces

Term 2

-Solo Performance Preparation: First Program Assessment
-Composition: students use recording and notation software to compose three original pieces

Term 3

-Weekly external exam preparation: aural and/ or score reading
-Solo Performance Preparation: Second Program Assessment
-Composition: students use recording and notation software to compose three original pieces

If you did not take the course at Level 2, or achieved fewer than 14 credits in that course, you will need HOD approval
