Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Miss R. Elmes

This practical, hands on course provides students the opportunity to learn creatively through the lens of a camera! Each student chooses their own theme to base their work on and develop their ideas.

Processes and procedures involved with digital photography including
•camera use
•printing
•Photoshop and digital manipulation

The year culminates in a Folio submission.

Course Overview

Term 1
Students learn the basics of photography both in the studio and on location. Selecting a theme and developing ideas through photography are the key areas of focus for Term one.

Term 2
Students continue to develop work to show both understanding of conventions and the development of ideas in the medium of photography. Experimentation of techniques and editing in Adobe Lightroom are core areas of focus for this term.

Term 3
Students continue to develop work based on their chosen theme. Greater independent learning should occur during this term as students take ownership of their ideas and control of the camera.

Term 4
Term four culminates in the presentation of the students work in a two panel folio board for external assessment.

Prerequisites

If you did not take a pathway course at Level 1, or achieved fewer than 14 credits in that course, you will need HOD approval.

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

$60
Students will be required to purchase their own SD Camera card for use in an out of school. Cameras are available for student use.

Assessment Information

Two Internal and one External submission make up this course. The external is the presentation of work done throughout the year so no examination is sat.
