Printmaking - Level 3

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Miss R. Elmes.

Students are supported to create a range of Print based outcomes, utilising wood, lino and etching processes. This is a great option for students who have experience in Carving or other traditional methods of art making. We welcome any student who is keen to give this class a go.

Course Overview

Term 1
Students will learn about different methods of printmaking including etching, lino and wood cuts. Learning about the methods of printmaking, the conventions and processes will underpin the learning during this term.

Term 2
Students will identify a chosen theme for their work and begin by exploring this theme through a series of observational drawings, composition plans, testing of materials and processes and creating prints. Students will document their process, selection of artist models and test prints in a workbook for the marking of their work.

Term 3
Students will continue to produce a body of related works responding to their chosen theme and artist model. Painting surfaces, cutting up their prints and reprinting will all be key elements of this course.

Term 4
Students will produce a three panel folio board that showcases their related series of printmaking works. The folio will show the students ability to generate and develop their ideas.
