University Entrance with NCEA
University Entrance (UE) is the minimum standard for entrance to a New Zealand university.
To qualify, school leavers need:
Three subjects at NCEA Level 3, made up of:
• 14 credits each of three approved subjects.
PLUS
Literacy – 10 credits at Level 2 or above, made up of:
• 5 credits in reading
• 5 credits in writing.
AND
Numeracy – 10 credits at Level 1 or above
REMEMBER: University Entrance provides entrance to university; however, more and more universities require certain subject areas to be included and some have specific entry criteria. All universities publish these details.
