11 Engineering Trades

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr C. Lawrence.

  • A largely practical course based on two major projects that come together to form a single practical outcome.
  • The first of these projects is predetermined and students will learn to interpret Engineering drawings in the manufacture of a 2 Stroke Compressed Air Engine.
  • The second project involves student research and design and will form the presentation base for their engine.
  • This course requires the use of a range of materials and is an introduction to modern processes, equipment and methods.
  • This course is undertaken in an Engineering Workshop.

Course Overview

Term 1
Introduction / Safety and Safety assessment for 10% of course content.
Manufacture begins of Milled components for 2 Stroke Engine.
Manufacture begins of Turned components for 2 Stroke Engine

Term 2
Assessment of Milled components for 20% of course content.
Assessment of Turned components for 20% of course content.

Term 3
Materials and Processes research undertaken.
Design of base support completed.
Manufacture of base completed.

Term 4
Full assembly of Engine and Base completed.
Assessment of complete assembly for 50% of course content.

Open Entry - 10ITR preferred
