11 Building Related Trades
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Geoff Hind.
•Practical wood program based on four projects using a range of modern and traditional construction methods. An introduction to modern equipment and fittings.
•Development of practical skills.
•A focus on industry and trade-related assessments including health and safety, understanding tools and workshop machine use, specifications and construction techniques and processes.
Will be undertaken in a wood based workshop.
Course Overview
Term 1
• Practical program based on four projects using a range of modern and traditional construction methods. An introduction to modern equipment and fittings.
• Development of practical skills.
• A focus on industry and trade related assessments including health and safety, understanding tools and workshop machine use, specifications and construction techniques and processes.
Will be undertaken in a wood based workshop.
Project 1: Use hand tools skills to complete a wood tray.
Term 2
Project 2: Use power tools and hand tools to complete bottle holder
Term 3
Complete A Wooden Coffee table and project 4: Use power tools and hand tools to complete the Recipe Stand
Term 4
Recipe Stand completion
