History is the study of events and people who have shaped the world we live in.

Level 3 History is a broad survey course and will cover:


•The Cold War and the Nuclear Age
•NZ Land Wars
•Prohibition and the 1920's
•The US Civil War

Term 1
The US Civil War - it's origins and consequences.

Term 2
NZ Wars
Internal Assessment 3.1 and 3.2 (10 Credits Total)

Term 3
The Cold War, the Space Race and the Nuclear Age
3.4 Perpectives Internal (5 Credits)

Term 4
Revision and External exams.

Prerequisites

If you did not take a pathway course at Level 2, or achieved fewer than 14 credits in that course, you will need HOD approval.

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

$40 Field Trip
$300 for a possible field trip to the Bay of Islands to study the Land Wars.

Credit Information

You will be assessed in this course through all or a selection of the standards listed below.

This course is eligible for subject endorsement.
Course endorsement provides recognition for a student who has performed exceptionally well in an individual course.
Students will gain an endorsement for a course if, in a single school year, they achieve:
* 14 or more credits at Merit or Excellence, and
* at least 3 of these credits from externally assessed standards and 3 credits from internally assessed standards.
