Term 1
Homer’s Odyssey
This is a Greek literature topic that you can use to answer short answer extract based questions in Achievement Standard 2.1. The focus is on nine books from Homer’s Odyssey, recognized as the first novel written in the western world.
Internal assessment in 2.5 is completed in Term 1
Term 2
Art Of Pompeii & Herculaneum
This is a Roman art history topic that you can use to answer short answer extract based questions in Achievement Standard 2.2. The topic looks at mosaics, paintings and houses from the Pompeii and Herculaneum area devastated in the eruption of Vesuvius in 79AD with special reference to the following works:

This is a Roman History topic that you can use to answer essay-based questions in Achievement Standard 2.3. The topic looks at the day to day life of Roman citizens, soldiers and slaves as well as covering a brief history of Rome from it’s foundation in 753BC.

This is another Roman History topic that you can use to answer essay based questions in Achievement Standard 2.3. The topic looks at Rome in the age of Caesar and Cicero and the period of turmoil that followed.

You will be assessed in this course through all or a selection of the standards listed below.
This course is eligible for subject endorsement.
Course endorsement provides recognition for a student who has performed exceptionally well in an individual course.
Students will gain an endorsement for a course if, in a single school year, they achieve:
* 14 or more credits at Merit or Excellence, and
* at least 3 of these credits from externally assessed standards and 3 credits from internally assessed standards.
This course is approved for University Entrance.
