History is the study of events and people who have shaped the world we live in.
- The 1960's: music, politics, conflict, and the space race.
- The Holocaust
- NZ Natural Disasters and effects
- Conspiracy theories
Course Overview
Term 1
Research assessment based upon upon a local natural disaster.
Term 2
The 1960's: music, politics, conflict, and the space race.
Conspiracy theory internal.
Term 3
The rise of the Nazi party and the Holocaust.
Perspectives internal.
Term 4
Revision and external examination focus.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
$150 (overnight field trip).
Prerequisites
If you did not take a pathway course at Level 1, or achieved fewer than 12 credits in that course, you will need HOD approval.
You should have done either ENG1, HIS1, GEO1, or PSY1
Pathway
History leads to a wide array of careers. These include law, teaching, journalism, policy analyst, research and marketing, government advisory positions, criminology, and media consultancy.
Credit Information
This course is eligible for subject endorsement.
Course endorsement provides recognition for a student who has performed exceptionally well in an individual course.
Students will gain an endorsement for a course if, in a single school year, they achieve:
14 or more credits at Merit or Excellence, and
at least 3 of these credits from externally assessed standards and 3 credits from internally assessed standards.
This course is approved for University Entrance.
