History is the study of events and people who have shaped the world we live in.
In Level 2 History we look at -
- The 1960's: music, politics, conflict, and the space race.
- The Holocaust
- NZ- A History of Protest
- Conspiracy theories
Course Overview
Term 1
An introduction to History
How have protests shaped society both in NZ and the world?
A research assessment based on a protest movement or a significant local event.
Term 2
The 1960's: music, politics, conflict, and the space race.
An internal assessment on Conspiracy Theories.
Term 3
The rise of the Nazi party and the Holocaust.
An internal assessment on the perspectives of people in History.
Term 4
Revision and external examination focus.
Prerequisites
No pre-requisite but you should have done ENG Level 1.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
$150 (overnight field trip).
Pathway
History leads to a wide array of careers. These include law, teaching, journalism, policy analyst, research and marketing, government advisory positions, criminology, and media consultancy.
Credit Information
You will be assessed in this course through all or a selection of the standards listed below.
This course is eligible for subject endorsement.
Course endorsement provides recognition for a student who has performed exceptionally well in an individual course.
Students will gain an endorsement for a course if, in a single school year, they achieve:
* 14 or more credits at Merit or Excellence, and
* at least 3 of these credits from externally assessed standards and 3 credits from internally assessed standards.
This course is approved for University Entrance.
